Over the past few years the UK petrol prices have come under a lot of scrutiny and criticism. This is mostly because they are one of the most expensive in Europe with the government taking about 80% of the cost of petrol in taxes.
I came across this website which takes your postcode and using Google maps shows you the cheapest petrol station which is nearest to you… Very cool!

Nuisance Calls

In the last 2 days I’ve had a number of nuisance calls from these numbers where they ring a couple of times then hang up. I did a bit of research and found a few of the numbers have been ringing other people and doing the same thing. Apparently if you ring them back you get transferred onto a premium rate number where the company makes a profit from your call and they ask you if you want your number to be removed from their list.
If anyone else gets nuisance calls from these numbers contact Ofcom who deal with this sort of thing. If they get enough complaints about 1 company then they will take legal action. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/media/mofaq/telecoms/silentfaqs/
Wimbledon - Dynamic scoreboard

It appears that the Wimbledon website have their score boards hooked up to the actual scoreboards at Wimbledon. The scores seem to update instantaniously. I watched as the serve speed was recorded, then the score 15 0 appeared 15 seconds later.

Video Footage - Australia vs Italy

Here is some high quality footage of that famous incident by which Italy got a last minute penalty against Australia in the Germany World Cup 1st Round of phase 2 for the all important quarter final spot.
Australia were shown by the veterans how to win a match professionally.
Bye bye Graham Poll
It seems at the World Cup the referees join in with the competitive spirit with the best referee over the tournament making it to the final.
In Graham Polls circumstances it appears he gave a whole list of bad decisions including giving one of the Croatians 3 yellow cards before sending him off.
Apparently Graham Poll had been in the running for the final match but it looks like he’ll be heading home after that match as Sepp Blatter announced that he won’t tolerate bad refereeing which plagued the last World Cup.
With around 1 billion people watching every game I’m sure it’s nerve racking being a referee.
Ryder Cup : K Club 22nd - 24th September

Not long till the Ryder Cup now which is being played a few hours away from where I live. If Colin Montgomerie manages to keep his performances going like that last 3 tournaments then he might have a chance of playing again. So far he’s winning the US Masters and has still to win any of the Majors despite his past record of having been European number 1 for 7 years in a row.
The K Club has a beautiful hotel which you can see at http://www.kclub.ie/ and the golf course was designed by Arnold Palmer and is a monstor 7337 yards long with plenty of water and bunkers.
 Anyone interested in going?
Mortgage Advice for Business Owners
After almost 6 months of looking for a house we’re slowly but surely getting somewhere. At first we were finding it difficult to get any sort of sizeable mortgage because the business had been going for just less than 2 years and obviously the income on paper isn’t going to be exponential.
However after a bit of scouting we came across Ulster Bank which is a member of the Royal Bank of Scotland group. We discovered that this bank will give you a mortgage based on a certified copy of a cashflow projection. The accounts must be verified by a chartered accountant however but this flexibility can be invaluable to those who have just started a business and need to get a mortgage before the house prices explode any further.
Failing this co-ownership is another means to get your foot on the ladder but it turns out much more expensive in the long run and I would advise anyone to get an outright mortgage if at all possible.

A few months ago I was applying for a couple of contract jobs and since then I’ve had a few emails sent to me to do with CVs and recruiters. I thought it was pretty ironic what one company sent me in an email;
UNFORTUNATELY THIS MEANS 249 PEOPLE HAVE TO KEEP SEARCHING.

I’m no usability expert but I know that writing in all CAPS is a big no no. So they are asking me to use their CV writing services so that it can be more readable and effective for a potential employer?Â
